On Vacation

I'm Back home from Washington where I've been working for the past 3 months. It is so nice to be home and I have been busy catching up on all the things that fall behind while I'm gone. But I want to get back to work and get some money saved up for a really long vacation. I am going to be riding my bike a lot and will be posting up video shortly.

Brother's wedding in Tennessee

I flew to Tennessee for my brother Dan's wedding and had a great time, it went very smooth and I go to visit with family while I was there. We went and visited my Grandpa's grave,
saw my mom's new house,
and got to see a town that had been covered by a reservior(Willow Grove).
I really enjoyed visiting but have now realized that I don't think I could ever live there. It is beautiful but the weather was too hot and humid for me. I will stick with the Treasure Valley for now.

Geocaching, my new hobby.

Well I made the purchase, a Magellan eXplorist 500 GPSr unit. I am getting really excited to try it out and attempt my first go at Geocaching. Geocaching is basically a worldwide GPS based treasure hunt. Someone hides a "Cache", logs the GPS coordinates and then posts it on the Geocaching.com website. I then look it up, enter the coordinates in my GPS and go hunting. It sounds like a lot of fun and hopefully I will be able to start hiding my own Caches out in the middle of nowhere for others to find.

Riding on Saturday

Wayne standing with the bikes
Went riding with wayne on saturday. We had a blast and got into some really rough country. The area we went was close to where his family homesteaded in the late 1800's. The country is beautiful and massive. While we were out we ran into only one person, an old farmer/rancher who was on his rounds filling water troughs for his cattle. He was a nice old guy and I could tell he was definitely not "up with the times". I was wearing an Old Navy t-shirt and he asked me "were you in the navy son?" I kinda chuckled and said "no sir it's just a brand of clothing", he kinda looked at me funny and just kept on tellin' a story. We chatted with him for about half an hour before he finally decided he'd better get back to work "before his herd shrivels up and dies".

We rode in an area that was originally owned by the Purdue family. It was some treacherous riding and there were a couple times that I had to get off the bike and run with it up the hill.
See a small video clip here -

Along our way we came across several old homes that had been built and lived in by the purdue family. I took some video and it can be viewed below

We saw 3 Bighorn Sheep and 2 Antelope. Learned some new information about a plant called "watercress". Check out my video blog for more info -

I fouled two plugs and now realize its time to do some work on the bike. BTW I ride a 94 kx125, not a good trail bike but it does ok.
There were no major accidents, only a couple small spills. Wayne went all day riding and didn't get hurt at all until we were about 100 yards from the truck and his front tire caught in the sand, he went over the handlebars and landed face-first in sage brush, scraped up his face a bit and tore his pants apart, he was wearin' kneepads and they saved him from any real injury.
Black Sands Resort
On our way home we stopped at the Black Sands Resort to say hello to Wayne's son Adam. The weather was beautiful and we got to do some really enjoyable riding. All in all a very good trip.

Work Work Work

Ahhh... I can't wait to start work. I will probably be going to Spokane, WA. area for work until something comes available here in the valley. It will be a nice change of pace for me. I haven't had any real time away from everything/everyone in awhile. On another note, I really want to go riding but the weather here has not been very forgiving. I plan to go dirt biking on saturday and will post up plenty of pictures.
